Over the last year we have seen a rise in malicious and phishing emails being circulated. At HFMC your privacy and protection is important to us.

If you suspect you have received a suspicious email please forward it as an attachment (if possible) to stephanie.whiting@hfmcwealth.com for further investigation.

Here are a few top tips on how to spot fraudulent emails:

• The sender’s email address doesn’t match either HFMC Wealth’s website domain, which is hfmcwealth.com or our central marketing email address which is news@hfmc-wealth.com
• If you receive an email purporting to be from HFMC from a different domain please alert us immediately.
• The email is sent from a free web mail address such as Hotmail or Gmail etc
• The email does not use your proper name, but uses a non-specific greeting like “dear customer”.
• The email has a sense of urgency and a call to action; for example the threat that unless you act immediately your funds make be at risk
• The email has a prominent website link. These can be forged or seem very similar to the proper address, but even a single character difference means a different website. The HFMC Group’s websites are as follows – hfmcwealth.com, hfmcam.com and releasingequitysoutheast.com.
• The email contains a request for personal information such as username, password or bank details.
• The email contains spelling and grammatical errors.
• You weren’t expecting to get an email from the company that appears to have sent it.
• The entire text of the email is contained within an image rather than the usual text format.
• The image contains an embedded hyperlink to a bogus site.
